Shortly after joining the team, he clashed with Toshi and the others, but they eventually reconciled after a practice match devised by Kamiya made them realize they had merely been imitating the superficial aspects of Kubo's soccer.
He excels at tricky play; his Brazilian-honed *malícia* (cunning game sense) and no-look passes delivered at top speed are top-class. At Kakegawa, he is the team's key playmaker second only to Kamiya; as he frequently retains possession of loose balls, he often serves as the starting point for attacks.
